Marking Core drill holes.
When core drilling a brick wall the layout
must be absolutey perfect to where the center of the hole is going to be.
The best way if possible is to use either 1/2" by 7" sleeve anchors or 5/8" x 7" wedge anchors to hole the core drill rig to the wall.
Sometimes it is possible, if low enough to the ground, to use a car jack stand to hold up the top end of the core drill rig to relieve the anchor of some of the weight of the core drill.
If the brick is too loose to hold a 150lb core drill motor and stand then maybe the "chip it out" method might suffice,. All you do is make a pattern of the
hole you want to drill in the wall then use a rotary hammer drill and a 1/2" SDS masonary drill bit to poke out the pattern until it is ready to be knocked out with a hammer.
When drilling with a hammer drill in brick remember that the exit hole may shatter the brick a ween amount so always when possible drill from the side that is going to be seen by the owner and public to make a cleaner appearance of the hole in the brick wall.
The pciture above shows a 7" x 1/2" wedge anchor intalled and ready to be used as a mounting stud for you core drill to a crick wall
